March 2018

Saturday 3rd March Spring meeting and AGM - MEETING POSTPONED

Due to the weather conditions this meeting has been postponed and will be re-arranged for later this spring - probably in May.

Indoor meeting with a talk by Kevin Palmer of Reaseheath College on various native British reptile research projects he has been running in recent years followed by the Group AGM.

Toad crossings

The toad crossing patrols this year had just started before wintry weather conditions caused a halt. According to the weather forecast it is likely that they will recommence around 22nd March and continue into early April. Extra volunteers are always welcome


April 2018

Saturday 28th April, 2018 Reptile Survey Training Course.

Learn about surveying our widespread native reptile species - grass snake, adder, slow-worm and common lizard at this DARG event. Indoor session in the morning followed by visit to nearby reptile survey site that supports grass snake and slow-worm in the afternoon. The course is based at the Florence Nightingale Memorial Hall, Holloway, Derbyshire DE4 5BD situated between Cromford and Crich. It will run from 10am to 4pm, tea/coffee & biscuits provided, bring your own lunch. Costs (to cover venue hire) are DARG members £5.00, Derbyshire Wildlife Trust members £5.00, non-members £10.00 To book a place contact derbyshirearg@gmail.com

Pond dipping at the Avenue Washlands Nature Reserve

We will have a display and be carrying out pond dipping sessions at this Derbyshire Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve as part of the DWT Local Group's event. More details later

Provisional to be confirmed. We might be having a display at the Barrow Hill Roundhouse Garden and Wildlife Friendly event at Barrow Hill near Staveley. More details later
